Clayton Co. inmate walks away from work detail

RIVERDALE, Ga. -- Clayton County police have found an inmate they said walked away from a work detail Friday morning.

Police said the man escaped in the area of the jail on Tara Boulevard.

Female burglar dressed for success and crime

JONESBORO, Ga. -- Neighbors on Raymond Street in Clayton County say they want Jonesboro Police to step up patrols in their community. They say there has been an unsettling spike in crime in their quiet subdivision.

And the person responsible for the latest break-in there is raising a few eyebrows after being caught on the victim's security camera.

A neatly dressed woman in business attire gets out of a blue Buick LeSabre and calmly walks back and forth between doors, trying to see if someone's home.

When it's clear that the house is empty, she forcefully kicks in the door.

"She leaves the front porch and goes back to her vehicle," said Jonesboro Police Sgt. Brad Pair. "And she goes back around the front porch, and you see a side door start to shake. You see the door bust open, and you see the female there."

Students suspended for posting mugshot of principal

RIVERDALE, Ga. -- Most of us have done it at some point. Searched someone's name on the internet. But one Riverdale High School senior took it a step further, posting what he found on Instagram.  It's a decision that could have kept him from walking on graduation day.

Ke'andre Varner says he had time to kill in class on Monday, so when a buddy found a mugshot of their principal he decided to take a picture with his phone and pass it along, posting it on instragram.

As word spread, one student asked why she was arrested. Varner thought he'd chosen his words carefully.

"I put I thought she got arrested for DUI instead of saying she did get arrested for DUI," explained Varner.

Regardless, it wasn't true. A spokesman for the Clayton County School District says the principal, Jamille Miller-Brown, was arrested, after missing a court date on a speeding ticket.
