Spice Market Announces “Artful Thursdays” and “Après Art” Packages

Spice Market, located inside the W Atlanta-Midtown, is rolling out two new promotions with the High Museum of Art in Midtown beginning the week of April 16 in order to encourage guests to support the arts and to offer a convenient and free parking option for museum-goers.

The restaurant’s Artful Thursdays will take place every Thursday evening beginning at 5 p.m. and includes the following:

·         Complimentary valet at the W Atlanta-Midtown (guests most present their High Museum ticket and their Spice Market receipt upon leaving to receive valet services free of charge)

·         Half-priced tickets to the High Museum of Art, which can be purchased at the Museum. The Museum is open until 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Georgia Author of the Year Awards | Children's Book nominees

KENNESAW, Ga. -- The nominees for the 2012 Georgia Author of the Year Awards have been announced.

More than 100 authors have been nominated in 12 categories, including Short Stories, which is a new addition in 2012.

Nine local writers will face off to take home the top prize in the Children's Book category:

Lift: A Gosling's First Flight
A native of Michigan, Gordon has made it her mission to channel positive messages through her picture books. Her website says that she is certified to teach special education and enjoys watching geese in her spare time.

On Friday, the film Joyful Noise opened in theaters nationwide. The Dolly Parton/Queen Latifah-helmed musical was shot right here in metro Atlanta, and features several faces and locations that may be familiar to residents.
