HAMPTON, Ga. – On Saturday, May 7 Safe America will hold its Safe Teen Georgia Driving Academy at the Atlanta Motor Speedway. This event, in its sixth year, is a full-day of fun-filled events that showcase and teach teens the basics of safe driving.

This year, since the even falls on the day before Mother’s Day is themed, “Do It for Mom!” During previous years, students and parents have partaken in activities like:

  • Personal testimonies from parents who share stories of their heartbreak and life-long loss recounting how their teens were killed in car crashes.
  • Teen pullover and sobriety test followed by an arrest and hearing in front of Atlanta Traffic Court Judge Steve Teske.
  • Crash simulation concluding with a teen victim being life-flighted to the nearest trauma center. 
  • Advanced hazard recognition training for drivers at rail crossings provided by Operation Lifesaver.  
  • Trauma center demonstration of trauma response equipment and dramatic life-saving procedures presented by the Atlanta Medical Center
  • Series of obstacle courses to demonstrate the dangers of drinking and driving and texting and driving
  • Roll-over simulator to show what happens when occupants are not wearing their seatbelts
  • No-Zone demonstration of danger points around tractor trailers
  • Braves Around Town’s B.A.T. Team with interactive fames and item giveaways

The event’s “Driving Academy” will feature a safe breaking event in which participants will compete for the keys to a brand new Ford courtesy of Allan Vigil Ford. Admission to this event costs $25 which includes one adult and one teen.

The Atlanta Motor Speedway is located at 1500 Tara Boulevard in Hampton.
