Man killed when vehicle slams into car wash

SANDY SPRINGS, Ga. -- A 41-year-old man was killed after being hit by a vehicle at a Sandy Springs car wash.

It happened Saturday at Mikael's Car Wash in the 6300 block of Roswell Road.

Sandy Springs Police said the victim, Malcolm C. Callender II of Jonesboro, was inside the car wash. A driver lost control of his car and slammed into the side of the building, striking Callender.

Callender was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver, Wilfredo Santo-Serrano, left the scene. He was arrested Sunday morning at an apartment complex near the car wash.

Santo-Serrano was charged with first-degree vehicular homicide and felony hit and run. He is being held in the Fulton County Jail.
