RIVERDALE | Baby kidnapping suspect to appear in court
RIVERDALE, Ga. -- The 19-year-old woman accused of trying to take a baby from the newborn unit of Southern Regional Hospital will appear in court Thursday.
Naquelle Ballard's hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
She was arrested in Lake City at about 10:20 a.m. Wednesday, roughly an hour after police say she walked into the hospital's Women's Life Center and tried to kidnap a newborn girl.
An alarm sounded and two hospital employees confronted Ballard, who ran off without the baby. Officers tracked her to a location about five miles away.
Investigators say Ballard faces charges of kidnapping and false imprisonment.
