JONESBORO, Ga. -- Police are investigating the case of a body found near a Jonesboro apartment complex as a homicide.

The woman's body was discovered Wednesday night in a wooded area near the Harmony Crossroads apartments on Tara Boulevard, according to the Clayton News Daily.

Police Chief Franklin Allen said a resident of the apartment complex found the body covered by a "large bed-type covering" at around 7 p.m. The body has not yet been identified, but is described as a black woman between 20 and 30 years old.

Though a cause of death has not been determined, Allen said the death is being treated as a homicide because of unspecified injuries to the body.
