ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Silverbacks will play six preseason games this year, the soccer club announced Friday.

The preseason schedule will feature two games against professional teams and four against college teams.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Falcons hosted their Fourth Annual Salute to High School Football Luncheon on Saturday, December 10. Local coaches like Jess Simpson from Buford High School, Gary Varner from Allatoona High School, and Michael Carson from MLK Jr. High School were honored according to their classification.

The luncheon, held at the Georgia World Congress Center, was sponsored by the AirTran Airways, hhgreggm and Russell Athletic, among others. Former Falcon, Alge Crumpler served as keynote speaker for the event.  

Also, honored at the event was Dave Hunter, a legendary coach at Brookwood High School; Hunter was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award. Also honored at the ceremony was Cameron Sutton of Jonesboro High School,  he was awarded with the Warrick Dunn Captain in the Community of the Year Award.

The Falcons will host a football clinic for high school coaches, next spring. 

Expect road closures on Sunday as runners discover Atlanta one mile at a time at the Atlanta Marathon and Marathon Relay on Sunday, October 30, 2011. The 26.2 mile urban course starts and finishes at Atlantic Station taking participants on a tour of Atlanta past well-known Atlanta sites and neighborhoods such as Georgia Tech, Centennial Olympic Park, Georgia Aquarium, Turner Field, Grant Park, Oakland Cemetery, Martin Luther King Center, Piedmont Park, Buckhead and the famous Peachtree Road.
