ATLANTA, Ga. -- For this week’s installment of Best Spots, we've compiled a list of public pools in the area for you, your family and friends to take a dip and cool off in the heat of the summer sun.

With an economy like ours, it’s imperative that people look for a bargain wherever they can and public pools offer fun with that’s easy on the pockets. Check out these local pools and enjoy a classic, cost-effective, exciting summertime experience.

Clayton County

Public pools in Clayton County open on June 1. All pools charge a usage fee of $3 for Clayton County residents or $20 for a monthly pass.

PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – There are tons of fun events going on this weekend, in your area. We’ve listed a few of them for you to check out with your family and friends.

Come out to the Aberdeen Village Center on Saturday, May 7, for Opening Day of the Peachtree City Farmers Market. The market which was formally known as, Fresh South Market will open at 9:00 a.m. and will close at 2:00 p.m. Aberdeen Village is located at 202 Northlake Drive in Peachtree City.

The city of Peachtree City will host their Annual PTC Spring Cleanup at the Peachtree City Recycling Center. According to the Peachtree City Updates newsletter, “PTC residents can drop off unwanted appliances (Freon removed), furniture, and other junk at the Recycling Center on Rockaway Road. The Recycling Center will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days.

In today’s economy, it’s important to find companionship which, in our opinion, is the cheapest form of entertainment. However, it’s the springtime, and people like to get out every now and then. So, check out these suggestions for fun under $15.

If you had a rough week, take your date to Range, Guns and Safes to blow off some steam. Every Wednesday, this range, located in Forest Park, costs $10 for the first hour of target practice for male/female couples. Subsequent hours are $12 each.

Razorbacks to host 5K Run/Walk, March 19

JONESBORO, Ga. -- Mundy's Mill Middle School will hold their Certified Razorback 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, March 19, at Mundy's Mill Middle. 

Registration starts at 7:15AM, opening preliminaries kick-off at 8AM, and the run/walk begins at 10AM.

The race starts at Mundy's Mill Middle, then heads to Brown Elementary which is the half way point, and ends back at Mundy's Mill Middle. Registration and booth rentals are $20 each.  Contact David Wilson for more information at (770) 473-2880.

E.W. Oliver Eagles take it all the way

RIVERDALE, Ga. -- The E.W. Oliver Elementary Eagles basketball team ended their basketball season with a win against Lake Ridge Elementary. The Eagles ended the season with a record of 17-1 and won the game with a score of 20-19.

Throughout the season coaches Anthtwan Caver, James Roberts, and Garfield Robinson didn't only teach the fundamentals of basketball, they stressed and enforced the importance of academic excellence, good character, and sportsmanship within the players. The players exemplified all these qualities throughout the season, on and off the court. 

Team members are: William Black, Tyrese Tumbling, Khari Caver, Joshua Joffrion, Sundiata Anderson, Chase Jackson, Marquavius Harris, Taylor Sanders, Kelvin Carey, Siduri Roberts, James Williams, Shamari Harris, Precaria McGrady, Ronicus Scott, and Jaylan Clark.

Fans Invited for FREE Legends Race and Open House at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 12

HAMPTON -- Atlanta Motor Speedway will host a free Open House for race fans and the surrounding community from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, including short-track racing, the opportunity to drive their car on the Speedway's 1.54-mile track and a chance to win a large Big Green Egg smoker.

The free Open House event will feature the championship round of the track's Winter Flurry Legends racing season and fan entertainment, plus the opportunity for NASCAR fans to pick their preferred frontstretch seats for Atlanta Motor Speedway's Labor Day weekend of NASCAR night racing, Sept. 2-4.

Fans reserving Labor Day weekend tickets for as little as a $20 down payment can drive their own vehicle on Atlanta's quad oval following the conclusion of Winter Flurry racing at 3:00 p.m.
