FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. -- A 20-year-old man has been charged with robbing a customer outside the AT&T store at the Fayette Pavilion last month.
Marquis Raphiel Jackson faces charges of robbery and obstruction in the Sept. 25 incident.
Fayetteville Police Lt. Mike Whitlow said the victim, a 57-year-old woman, had just bought an iPhone at the store. As the victim tried to get into her car, Jackson opened the passenger door, grabbed the new phone and jumped into a red Dodge Grand Caravan with at least two more suspects inside.
Police found the Dodge parked at the nearby Home Depot and then discovered a second car with an additional two suspects inside. Whitlow said these suspects identified Jackson as the robber.
Investigators spotted Jackson walking on Roberts Road and chased him into the woods. He managed to elude police through the night, but was eventually arrested.
Five more suspects face lesser charges in this case. Four are pictured above; the fifth is 40-year-old Patricia Jackson of Hampton, who has been charged with misdemeanor obstruction.
